Within the first few notes of the original score done by 2x Academy Award winning, Gustavo Santaolalla, you can feel the shift from hopeful to haunting. This record is the sonic emotions of the film “The Tribes of Palos Verdes”.
Gustavo’s compositions take you on the journey of this young family unraveling, while songs from Cherry Glazerr, King Krule, Jamie XX, Braden Miller and Ariel Pink offer a glimpse into the culture that the film represents.
The final layer of this record was enlisting Brushfire recording artist Jack Johnson and Bahamas to record tracks for the film. Bahamas wrote the song “My Love” which captures the beauty and angst of high school. “Only the Ocean” by Jack Johnson was recorded for the final scene of the movie.
